Before you apply

  • The free open-source core does most of what a debugging proxy needs. Try it first — you may not need Pro at all.
  • If you do want Pro, the education plan saves 50% on Pro Standard (1 Mac) or Pro Personal (2 Macs).
  • Verification takes 1–2 business days. We do not auto-approve.

1. Who qualifies

The plan is for individuals whose primary activity is learning or teaching at an accredited institution. That includes, anywhere in the world:

  • Full-time and part-time students at a university, college, or high school
  • Teachers, lecturers, professors, teaching assistants, and adjunct faculty
  • Post-docs, research fellows, and graduate researchers at accredited institutions
  • Students enrolled in recognized coding bootcamps that issue a verifiable certificate of enrollment

It is not for freelancers at a company that happens to work with schools, for alumni whose enrollment has ended, or for bulk reselling to classrooms. For whole-classroom or department-wide licensing, see institutional licensing below.

2. The discount

Qualifying applicants receive a 50% discount code for use at checkout. The code:

  • Applies to Pro Standard (1 Mac) and Pro Personal (2 Macs). It does not apply to Enterprise — that is negotiated separately.
  • Stacks with neither other promotional codes nor affiliate discounts.
  • Is personal, single-use for the plan term you purchase, and non-transferable.
  • Expires 90 days after issuance. Request a new one if you do not use it in time.

3. How to apply

Email rockxyapp@gmail.com with the subject line Education discount. Send the email from your institutional address where possible, and include:

  1. Your full name (matches what is on your ID)
  2. Your institution and your role (student, teacher, researcher)
  3. One of: a scan or photo of your current student/staff ID; a recent enrollment letter; an unexpired bootcamp certificate of enrollment; or a direct link to a public institutional page that lists you as a student or staff member
  4. Which plan you want the discount for (Pro Standard or Pro Personal)

We reply within 1–2 business days. On approval you receive a personal discount code by email that applies at checkout. We never auto-approve without verification.

4. What we do with your documents

We look at your verification document long enough to confirm your eligibility, then delete it. It is not shared with Lemon Squeezy, uploaded to any cloud tool, or retained beyond the verification step. The only thing we retain is the fact that an approval happened, tied to your email address — so we can renew or re-verify you later without asking for the same document again. This handling is covered by the Privacy Policy.

5. Renewal and expiry

The education discount is tied to your current status, not a calendar. If you purchase a subscription plan, the discounted rate renews automatically as long as your last verification is less than 12 months old. After 12 months we email you to re-verify. If you graduate, change roles, or leave academia, the plan reverts to the standard rate at the next renewal. If you buy a one-time / founding plan, the discount applies once, at purchase.

6. Institutional licensing (classrooms, labs, departments)

If you are purchasing for a classroom, lab, teaching assistant team, or entire department, contact us about Enterprise education. We quote by seat count with volume pricing, a single invoice, and a signed order form. This is the right path for anything 5+ seats. It is covered by a separate written agreement that takes precedence over the standard EULA where it conflicts.

7. Using Rockxy for coursework and research

You may use Rockxy to debug your own coursework, research projects, and university-owned lab systems that you have explicit authorization to test. You may not use it to intercept traffic on a shared campus network, a classmate's device, or any third-party service you do not own or are not authorized to debug. The permitted-use and prohibited-use sections of the Terms of Service apply without modification. This matters: sections 4 and 6 of the EULA and Terms are the guardrails that keep the tool useful in an academic setting.

8. Refunds and cancellation

The standard 14-day refund window from the Fulfillment & Refund Policy applies. You can cancel a subscription at any time from the Lemon Squeezy customer portal link in your receipt; cancellation stops future renewals but does not refund the current period.

9. Frequently asked questions

I do not have a .edu email. Can I still apply?

Yes. Many institutions outside the United States do not use .edu addresses. Send us a scan of your student or staff ID, or an enrollment letter dated within the current academic year, and that is enough.

Can my whole class use one discount code?

No. Each student applies individually. That is what keeps the process honest and keeps the discount real. For class- or department-wide buying, see Enterprise education above.

I am a self-taught developer following a free online course. Do I qualify?

Not under this plan. The open-source core is already free and does not require a discount. Purely independent learning, without enrollment in an accredited program or a bootcamp with a certificate of enrollment, does not qualify.

I am a TA teaching a networking course — I want my students to get the discount for an assignment.

Please email us with the course outline and expected number of students. We will either pre-approve a class list, or (more commonly) send you a single instructor-signup URL that verifies each student's institutional email automatically. Easier than 40 individual email threads.

What if I graduate mid-subscription?

Keep the remainder of the paid period at the discounted rate. At your next renewal, the rate moves to the standard price. No mid-term upcharge.
